Now I’m at three seconds and already over 100 mph and still shifting up. My only clear vision is straight-ahead. Peripheral vision of stationary objects has blurred. Once in top gear, the unmuffled exhaust of the engine passes the pain level of hearing as the engine passes 10,000 combustion cycles per minute. It’s know wonder the RX-7 holds 9 track records throughout the United States.
Think about this: From a standing start, the Rick Stiles
RX-7 will reach 100 mph in just under three seconds. My head is pushed violently back, into the headrest, and my face distended as my body experiences three times the natural force of gravity.
At two seconds, I’ve already shifted gears twice with the force of acceleration making my hands feel like bricks attached to my wrist. With each tap of the gear lever of the semi-automatic pneumatic gearbox the acceleration just keeps smashing me back.
